There’s lots of fab events taking place in Birmingham during 2017. From painted bear trails and world class athletics to fantastic outdoor cultural performances and roaming dinosaurs! There’s something for everybody and if you’re at a loose end with the kids over the summer holidays, there’s plenty to keep you all entertained. Here’s a taster….
Dinosaurs in the Wild, NEC – Running until August 24th, this immersive live adventure is a heady mixture of theatre, theme park fun and the very latest in scientific research. The first time any event of this kind has been hosted in the UK, this 70-minute adventure will transport you back over 60 million years to see how dinosaurs used to live. This experience really raises the bar for live action events and your kids will absolutely love it.
The Big Sleuth – Running until September 17th, this is a bear hunt of a different kind. To the uninitiated, a sleuth is the name given to a group of bears and The Big Sleuth is the much-anticipated sequel to The Big Hoot, delivered by Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity and creative producers Wild in Art.
Up to 100 stunning bear sculptures will appear across Birmingham throughout July to September and you can have lots of fun trying to locate them, whilst seeing plenty of the city at the same time. The Big Hoot was a huge success and The Big Sleuth is expected to be equally as successful.
Birmingham Weekender – From September 22nd to September 24th, Birmingham’s biggest arts festival returns with a packed weekend of free outdoor theatre, performances, dance, music and art installations. The festival will feature international artists as well as local and home-grown talents and promises to be a feast for the senses.
Muller Grand Prix – Taking place on Sunday 20th August, the Muller Grand Prix in Birmingham will be one of the highlights of the 2017 athletics season. World class athletes from across the globe will descend on Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium for what promises to be a thrilling event.
