According to a recent property index report from PropertyDetective.com, 8 out of the 10 best locations to raise and start a family are based in the North and North West of England.
The ‘Family Friendliness Index’ from PropertyDetective.com focuses on areas such as quality of schools, services and amenities and crime rates and in this respect, the North West of England is coming out tops.
Areas such as Bollington in Cheshire, Chorley in Lancashire, Delph near Manchester and Higher Whitley near Northwich in Cheshire, all came out in the top 5, demonstrating the draw that the North West has for families.
Conversely, only a sprinkling of locations in London and London’s commuter belt made it into the top 100 illustrating that despite the high property prices in the capital, people looking to start a family are looking for a quality of life that London can’t deliver.
A great time to invest in the region
Put off by exorbitant house prices, the high cost of living and commuting problems in the capital, we are already starting to see people gravitate towards the north and this recent property index seems to bear that out.
Given the strong demand for property in the North West, supply is still low and this is driving good rental returns for would-be investors. With significant investment plans in place for the North West including the Government’s Northern Powerhouse initiative, now is a great time to invest in the region.
