The largest ever Qatar-UK delegation are in Birmingham this week to discuss various projects and investment opportunities in the city.
Trade Secretary Liam Fox together with senior government officials from Qatar will be at the ICC where investment projects across sport, healthcare and cyber-security will be on the agenda. It is hoped that this will lead to a number of new investments being forged in Birmingham and the Midlands.
Qatar accounts for £35 billion of current investment in the UK and bilateral trade is more than £5 billion per year. Qatar is also the UK’s third largest export market in the Middle East and relationships between the two countries go from strength to strength.
Liam Fox said: "The Government's Plan for Britain will help us trade beyond Europe and make Britain a leading advocate for free trade across the world, as we build on our relationships with old friends and new allies.
"Hosting this event in Birmingham ensures the whole country benefits including the Midlands Engine, creating jobs and supporting cities, towns and communities right across the United Kingdom."Read the full article here
