The growth of Manchester as an investment hotspot

Manchester has grown to become one of the UK's hottest property investment destinations and also one of the main investment markets in Europe.

Outside of London, Manchester is the UK's biggest economic region and is playing a key role in the government's £7 billion Northern Powerhouse initiatives. Manchester is set to become the first UK city besides the capital to have an elected mayor and this will facilitate much more command over things such as transport infrastructure and healthcare provision.

Investors from both home and overseas are gravitating towards Manchester because of its role in the Northern Powerhouse plans and the decision to have an elected mayor which will devolve more power to the North West region as a whole and strengthen the property sector even more.

On the recent European Regional Growth Index which is compiled by LaSalle Investment Management, Manchester has climbed up the list of the most popular investment markets in Europe.

Other UK cities on the list include Bristol and Birmingham but they both fall behind Manchester on the overall list.  London tops the list and is still earmarked as the top European destination for global property investors.

A key factor that is attracting property investors to Manchester is the significant undersupply of property which is pushing rents to an all-time high, leaving investors with excellent high rental yield opportunities as well as superb potential for capital growth.
