Why you should invest now

There is no doubt that we are living in turbulent economic times. The decision to leave the EU is unprecedented and nobody truly knows what triggering Article 50 will truly mean for the property market. At the moment, its holding firm and there are certainly some great opportunities for investors out there. We are frequently being asked by our clients whether now is a good time to invest and, whilst this really depends on your personal circumstances, our advice is to take action now. Here’s why:

  1. British property is around 20% cheaper than it was before the EU Referendum which means that there are some superb investment opportunities available at the moment. Delaying to see if it gets even cheaper is a risky strategy as there is no guarantee that it will fall lower. Meanwhile, because of the ongoing undersupply, house prices continue to increase and you may find that the opportunity diminishes.

  2. The chronic undersupply of housing in the UK will not be solved overnight so there is still strong tenant demand that needs to be met. Buy-to-let is the vehicle to do this.

  3. RICS are predicting that 1.8 million more households will be looking to rent rather than buy a home by 2025.

  4. Countrywide is forecasting a 4% increase in rents in 2017 and again in 2018.

  5. Property is still one of the safest, stable and best performing asset classes.

  6. Low interest rates are rendering other forms of investments weak with poor returns
