Digbeth

Lifestyle

A stone’s throw from the city centre, Digbeth really is the creative hub of Birmingham – in fact, in 2018 it was named as one of The Times’ coolest places to live in the UK too!

This former industrial area certainly has a quirky future and is home to various start up businesses, The Custard Factory (an independent shopping destination and business workspace), as well as plenty of street art. Here, you’ll find a range of apartments, townhouses and penthouses, and being located close to Aston and BCU universities makes it a popular location for students too. Plus don’t forget about all of its ‘proper’ pubs (all with their own unique character and charm), live music options and out-of-this world street food, all of which make Digbeth one of the city’s most exciting places to live!

Transport

If you are looking to make the most of public transport then Digbeth is the location for you. Moor Street station is on your doorstep, plus New Street and Snow Hill are also not far away, and it will also be situated right next to HS2 as well. In addition, there are also plans to extend the city’s Metro to Digbeth too, and you’ll also have easy access to the coach station and M6, M5 and M40 motorway networks.

Schools

Across the B1 and B6 postcodes, Birmingham City Centre is home to a range of schools, from primaries to academies and some of the country’s top rated independents. In Digbeth, children will have access to some of the city centre’s best, including: St Thomas C of E Academy, Birmingham Ormiston Academy and Central Academy.

Amenities

We won’t beat around the bush - Digbeth is nothing short of a foodie’s paradise, where you’ll be spoilt for choice around every corner. From the locally renowned Digbeth Dining Club (think every type of street food that you could almost possibly want), to the Old Crown Pub (which opened in 1368), Pirlo’s dessert shop (their freak shakes are truly out of this world!) and Original Patty Men for arguably the city’s best burgers, you’re going to want to try them all! Plus don’t forget about all of Irish bars too - the area has been home to the Irish community for decades, and there is no better place to head to for a drink on a Friday or Saturday night!

Public spaces

The city’s canals are located just a short walk from Digbeth, as well as the up and coming Education Quarter – meaning that there is plenty to see!

Things to do

It is impossible to get bored in Digbeth. Some of our favourite entertainment establishments include Ghetto Golf (a crazy golf experience like no other with a fantastic party atmosphere to match) and The Mockingbird cinema (a quirky independent venue that also serves some top-notch burgers). Plus for something a bit different head to Matrix VR for a unique gaming experience, Tilt for craft beers and plenty of pinball machines, Dropshot for ping-pong and pizza, and The Bullring Markets for a spot of shopping. The hardest decision you’ll have to make is where to visit first!
